Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Shotmark is built so your screenshots never leave your device. This policy explains exactly what the web app and the browser extension do — and don't — with your data.
What we collect
Nothing. Shotmark has no servers that receive your images. Screenshots you capture, paste, drop or open are processed entirely inside your browser. We do not upload them, store them, or send them anywhere. There are no accounts and no login.
How the extension uses its permissions
- activeTab / scripting — to capture the current tab (visible area or, by scrolling, the full page) only when you click the Shotmark button.
- downloads — to save a screenshot as a PNG when you choose "PNG".
- clipboardWrite — to copy a screenshot to your clipboard when you choose "Copy".
- storage — to briefly pass a captured image from the popup to the editor tab on your own device. It is removed after use.
All capture and editing — including blur/redaction and text recognition (OCR) — runs locally. The OCR engine is bundled with the extension, so even that makes no network request with your image.
Analytics
The Shotmark website may use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (aggregate page views only). The app and extension do not track you, and your images are never part of any analytics.
Data sharing
We do not sell, share, or transfer any user data, because we do not collect any.
